Fleming’s is currently seeking an experienced Procurement & Logistics Manager to join our dynamic and growing team in Roma, Queensland. This position will be critical in overseeing and managing the strategic direction, coordination and evaluation of the procurement and logistics processes within the organization. The ideal candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure seamless supply chain operations, focusing on the efficient sourcing of materials, cost-effective purchasing and the timely delivery of goods and services. Key Responsibilities

  1. Procurement Management
    In this role, you will have full responsibility for directing and coordinating procurement activities across the company. This involves implementing robust procurement strategies to maintain a secure and cost-effective supply chain while delivering optimal value for money. You’ll engage in daily procurement tasks, including supplier selection, pre-qualification, contracting and operational purchasing needs such as issuing purchase orders and managing delivery schedules. Responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing procurement and contracting activities, including managing supplier and contractor pre-qualification processes.
  • Implementing procurement strategies that secure the supply chain while ensuring cost-effectiveness and value.
  • Managing operational purchasing, such as issuing purchase orders organizing delivery and overseeing transport logistics.
  • Coordinating stores activities related to goods receiving, packaging, storing and distributing items, ensuring everything is in line with company standards.
  • Facilitating control over free issue materials and monitoring outstanding orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Conducting annual supplier performance evaluations and addressing any supplier-related queries to maintain seamless operations.
  • Managing stock, including receiving components, dispatch, quarantining items and overseeing re-ordering processes to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Using ERP systems to track consumable and stock item movements, ensuring proper re-stocking and management of inventory.
  1. Financial & Business Improvement Management
    You will play a vital role in assisting with business tenders and grant applications. These responsibilities contribute to the company’s financial and operational efficiency by identifying areas for cost reduction and improvement. Specific tasks include:
  • Assisting with the preparation of business tenders and grant applications.
  • Identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities to meet financial targets and streamline processes.
  1. Stakeholder Management
    This role involves building strong relationships with key business stakeholders and strategic supply partners. You’ll need to work closely with suppliers to negotiate contracts, secure favorable terms and resolve any issues related to the quality or accuracy of delivered goods. Tasks include:
  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with business stakeholders and supply partners.
  • Negotiating contracts with suppliers to ensure the best combination of price, quality and service.
  • Directing stores on how to handle incorrect or damaged items by facilitating returns or exchanges.
  • Regularly liaising with suppliers to ensure smooth operations and problem-solving.

Required Skills & Experience

To excel in this role, the successful candidate should bring significant experience and qualifications in procurement, logistics or supply chain management. Specific requirements include:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain or Sales Engineer
  • A formal qualification in Procurement, Logistics or Supply Chain will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential to managing complex procurement and logistics challenges.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Experience with the procurement of specialized fittings, particularly for use in manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train, mentor and collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
